Historic Envy: 3rd Street, Louisville KY

Quite pleased with today's "Historic Envy" piece. One of my fondest memories is restoring a home about a block from here on 4th street, a huge historic house that I remember finishing the parlor and formal dining room, moving in all my period antiques and relaxing in my parlor and I knew exactly what it was like to live in the Gilded age of Victoriana.

Gracious  seat for your waiting guests
Today's historic envy piece is what Old Louisville is all about, the grand opulent mansions of the Victorian Era.
Victorian opulence
1704 S 3rd is 6110 Square feet, 4 bedrooms, 5 1/2 baths, over the top woodwork and a grand entry.
Great light fixtures and mantle
Most importantly, at 497,000, you can own a real mansion for the price of studio apartment in New York city or a tacky 3 bedroom tract home in suburbia of many major cities.

Love the floors and hanging rail
